Charleston has a humid subtropical climate, with mild winters, hot humid summers, and significant rainfall all year long. Summer is the wettest season; almost half of the annual rainfall occurs during the summer months in the form of thundershowers, which is an effect similar to the monsoons found in Southern Asia. Fall ramains relatively warm through November. Winter is short and mild, and is characterized by occasional rain. The highest temperature recorded was 104 degrees and the lowest temperature recorded was 10 degrees.
